McDonald’s, a well-known leader in the service industry, has developed a process they call Accretive Innovation, which allows them to create value-added customer experiences while continually streamlining operations. Their Innovation Center in Romeoville allows them to experiment with new solutions in full-size working kitchens and restaurants.

Vice President of Concept Innovation at McDonald’s, Denis Weil, IDSA, ensures that new service and environment design innovations are developed based on customer insights and integrated with operations innovation. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the Institute of Design at IIT, where he teaches classes on Design for Service businesses, and was a member of 2006 IDEA jury.
